Marquee Hire Venues

Choosing a venue for a wedding or party marquee takes a lot of time and consideration. There are many factors that need to be taken into account for marquee hire such as the size of the venue , its location , how it looks , cost etc.

One of the most important things to consider has to be the duration that venue owners allow you , as their client , to have access to the site for set up and takedown/clear up time.

Having erected tents and marquees as well as supplying furniture for hire at venues all over the South East but especially in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire we have found the “generosity” of venues with regard to the time that you are allowed to be on site varies hugely.

Some expensive venues are very frugal with their time slots, trying to maximise the number of different functions they can hold each week. This can put enormous stress on everyone involved with possibly unrealistic time targets being forced onto your suppliers. A marquee company may be waiting for the previous marquee company to dismantle their tents before erection of the next set of marquees with any delays having a knock on effect to the set up for florists ,caterers etc.

Coming back very early the following morning to clear out everything so that it is ready for the marquee company to dismantle also tends to spoil things for customers who have been up late into the evening enjoying their party.

So who to choose for your wedding or party marquee venue?

There are some great venues, that give a sensible amount of time for the preparation and dismantling of functions. Pear Tree Meadow in Oxfordshire www.peartreemeadows.co.uk hires out a private garden for functions and often allow access from the Thursday before a Saturday wedding or celebration.

Monks Barn Hurley is another venue for hire in Berkshire. The owners also have a fairly relaxed attitude, with reasonable access time a day or two before your event. It is a large attractive barn with a secure garden. Monks Barn is suitable for marquee hire, however, due to it’s size the majority of our customers hire in tables and chairs, dance floors and lighting as the barn is big enough for most purposes. The owners limit the number of functions that can be held at Monks Barn each summer, and there is no winter availability.

Black Barn near Bradfield is also a Berkshire venue that can be hired for weddings and parties. It is a very secluded Barn in the heart of the countryside and is of a very good size. We therefore do not often hire marquees at Black Barn very often , but have been there many time over the years hiring chairs and table. There are a few tables and chairs available at the Barn , but if you want round tables or different styles of chair, they need to be rented in from elsewhere. The venue does give reasonable acces for setting up before an event, but is not as generous as Monks Barn or Pear Tree Meadow.

Hiring Furniture for your venue

If you are hiring tables and chairs to be supplied to a venue, be very careful to inform your supplier if delivery/collection times are outside normal working hours. Don’t be tempted to skirt around this issue to try to save costs. If your venue requires a Sunday morning collection for example but you have not arranged this with your supplier the venue will almost definitely claim any deposit or charge you extra hire charges. Also if you leave hire equipment outside of the venue awaiting collection in the rain etc. you will incur damage charges from the hire company. You are responsible for the equipment until it has been collected by the delivery driver.

Here at County Marquees , we do offer an out hours delivery / collection service by arrangement with our customers. We do have to charge more for this service as obviously our staff costs etc increase, but many customers hugely appreciate the availability of this service for furniture hire. It reduces stress, as mentioned previously, and is often the only way that tables and chairs can be hired to many venues.
